This is a well made, durable bag. The open air mesh top is a good idea. I can zip it closed and still allow the hockey equipment to breath. The mesh seems tough enough to withstand some rough usage. The rest of the material also feels durable. Zippers seem to be durable as well.I would like to have a way to join the handles/shoulder straps, maybe with a Velcro flap, it would make it easier to carry on the shoulder as sometimes the outer strap will fall off my shoulder. Also the straps should probably wrap around the bag, inside the two outer pockets and under for better durability. I have seen this being an issue with cheaper bags from other manufacturers...they tear where the handle is sewn onto the bag. Though, maybe the strap on this bag will hold up just fine as it seems well sewn and heavy duty, I don't know yet.It has two equal sized outer pockets, one on the front and one on the back. It has two skate pockets inside the main storage area. Perhaps putting the skate pockets on opposite sides of the handle would balance better (one near each of the short sides), but it does not seem to be an issue. The skate pockets should probably be made of more durable material like the top mesh. Additional pockets are always welcome, another two on the short side exteriors would be great!! All in all a great bag, especially for the money (about $30 at the time of this review).P.S. It is described as a "youth" bag, but it seems to have plenty of room for adult roller hockey equipment consisting of: 1 helmet, 2 skates, 2 knee/shin pads, 2 elbow pads, padded shirt, padded girdle, 2 gloves, 2 jerseys, pants and miscellaneous pucks, grip tape, wheels, skate tools, etc.
Overall I like this bag, and for the price you can't do better. Two critiques...it's long enough to be a goalie bag so its just harder to stuff in your trunk, etc and the interior skate pockets make no sense, to me anyway. They should be about half as tall, just tall enough to hold the skates, and the same material as the bag...these skate pockets just don't seem like they'll hold up...but maybe these guys know something I don't (which is highly likely). Overall though I love the bag. The mesh top is genius, the shoulder straps are padded which is nice, but because of that it seems that one always falls off your shoulder. Its so close to being the best bag out there...I think they just need to rework the skate pockets, shorten it by 4-6 inches, (that's right give me less bag!), and put two eyelets on each end in case someone wants to add a single strap. Oh, and the soft bottom kind of sucks, it would be better if it was rigid, but thats sort of easy to fix with any sort of insert from an older bag. Long review wich makes it sounds ok, but its better than ok...for $29.99 its actually fantastic. Will buy again if this thing ever wears out, but honestly its built really well.
I picked up the Ninth Ground "Youth" size hockey back to haul my gear for rec league and stick and puck. From the competition I've looked at the quality for the price can't be beat. The standout feature is the mesh top that will let your gear breathe. There are nice cushioned handles for carrying, and the zippers seem quality (though they aren't YKK). The primary zippers are bigger than you'd find on a backpack or smaller bag, which is nice. Despite being called youth, the 32" bag is plenty big for my gear, including: helmet, pads, jerseys, gloves, skates, and other miscellaneous stuff. Two big zipper pockets on either side fit pucks, replacement blades (if you are using the old style sticks), and whatnot. Seams appear well constructed and the nylon is thick. Overall I'm very happy with this.PROS:- Great size/quality for the price- Heavy duty nylon seems like it will stand up to wear and tear- MESH TOP- Comfortable cushioned handlesCONS:- Zippers aren't YKK
